Butterfly Decor

As I am getting my posts done for the next several days I noticed I have a thing for butterflies lately ... must be because I want it to be SPRING around in these parts!! I'm so tired of cold ugly weather!!! Since I'm not seeing any butterflies here around these parts I'll just keep making my own!!

Here's a cute little framed butterfly art decor I made. I know now really springy but I love these colors together!!! They are Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy and Bashful Blue ... yummy! It's really hard to tell but the butterflies are spritzed with shimmer paint and they really sparkle in person! The butterfly was made with the Beautiful Butterfly die and some extra rubber I had, since I made it they came out with Butterfly Accent stamp. I added a little texture using the vine cluster from Vintage Vogue. The longer strip is made using the faux flannel technique and the bottom strip I used the scallop trim punch on. Happy Stamping!!

Brighter Vintage Vogue

Here is the third and last card that I sent in. This was a last minute card I made when I just couldn't decide on the others I had made.

The colors here are Certainly Celery and Bermuda Bay and they go together surprisingly well. I was sure how this vintage set would do in brighter colors but I think it looks great! I crimped the base just a bit to add some texture. The Bermuda Bay piece is done using the faux flannel technique. I originally had the centers done with Iridescent Ice but I changed them by adding pop up glue dots and microbeads with Certainly Celery as the background and it really softened it up. Layered Vintage Vogue

As I told you the other day I have been playing with my Vintage Vogue set. I applied to be a display stamper with Stampin' Up! and it would be fantastic if I got it, but we will see. So first I will share with you the one's I didn't send in for one reason or another. Here is one I'm not quite sure I like:

I really like the colors but the layers just weren't doing it for me. But it's still pretty. I did the flower by mixing reinker and the shimmer paint. It's very shimmery in person! Happy Stamping!

Felt Valentine

I think I've become addicted to felt ... using the big shot make's it so easy to use and not too mention fun!

I put ton of elements into this card, way more than I normally ever do! The leaves are made using the faux flannel technique. I made the flowers with my big shot and the Baskets and Bloom die, I did a quick stitch in the center flowers to gather it a bit. I made the flower pot using the ornaments die from the last mini catalog. Lastly the border was made using the dual border technique. Hope you all like it as much as I do! Happy Stamping!

Our 5th Anniversary

Today my husband and I have been married for 5 years ... we have actually been together for 15 years. We got married on the 10th anniversary of our first date. For our wedding date we invited friends and family over for a BBQ to announce the news!! So for the occasion I made my hubby this anniversary card:

First of all I want to say how hard it is to make a masculine anniversary card but I think I pulled it off well!! I used the stamp set "Stay Tuned" and picked the same saying for the TV screen because I know we will have many more anniversaries to celebrate. This is the first time we get to celebrate our anniversay since getting married because we always seem to have to work and we actually BOTH have the day off! I'm not sure what we are going to do but either way as long as we get to spend it together!!

A couple of details about the card. The TV is done using the faux flannel technique, (not sure what I mean check out this tutorial.) If you look closely at the picture you can see the fibers. I added brads for the knobs and gold cord for the antenna. To make the screen look like a real TV screen I covered it with crystal effects and I put two pop dots underneath the screen part to make it bubble out more then the rest of the TV. Not too sure..

if I like this card. I signed up for a Manly card swap and this is one of the cards I did. I do actually like it, it just seems that there is something missing. For the life of me I can't figure out what to add, maybe it's just that I've been doing some frilly stuff so it seems to be less wow. I mean how many men like glitter on their cards? What do you think?

I also decided to go back to my old blog header. I'm gonna stay with this one until I make something I like better.

Faux Leather Card

This card was made for my Yahoo group. We are getting together for dinner and doing a WOW swap exchange. I am really pleased in how this card came out. I hope they like it!!

Technique Tuesday - Faux Flannel/Paper Piecing

Here is my Tuesday technique class for Faux Flannel also known as Faux Suede. Due to the nature of the stamp set used there will some paper piercing at the end.

First take a piece of card stock that is cut slightly bigger than your image. I like to use my paper crimper rather than trying to break down the paper fibers by hand or rubbing the paper against a surface.







Run the paper through the crimper several times going forward, sideways, and diagonal. Do this until the paper is rather flexible.







Flatten out the paper .







From one edge of the paper pull apart to split in middle.










On the inside of one half of the paper stamp your image.









Cut out the shapes with stamp images lines.







After all pieces are cut start placing images in corresponding space.








Your finished piece after all pieces are in place.
