Send Me Soaring S'more card

This was the last project I created for the blog hop. I wanted to do something different with the the stamp set and as I was trying to figure out what to do I noticed that the dotted kite looked like a graham cracker and suddenly I had what I wanted to do! So I stamped several "graham crackers" and then ran my aqua painter over it to give it a two toned color. I took the solid kite shape and stamped some chocolate pieces as well as some marshmallows, which I embossed with iridescent ice. Then I stacked them on top of each other with dimensionals to give the some depth. Other than that just several layers to help blend all the colors I used. Hope you enjoyed this card as much as I do!! Happy Stamping!!

Speed Racer

The other day my Son and I needed to work on his derby car for our packs races .... literally the night before. He had wanted something thin so he decided on doing a speed limit sign. So you are probably wondering how exactly this works with stamping right? He actually created his "sign" using our My Digital Studio program.

Basically he used the punches on a MDS project rounded the corners and then added the black mating. He then added text to create his wording and lastly he added the little turtle to the bottom. After he made his creation and printed it he cut it down to fit the wood and glued it on. We did add some shimmer paint to make the sign's look kind of pearly. He had a lot of fun making it and his car was pretty fast too! It was the fastest car in the pack, which was a first for him!! Happy Stamping!!

Throwback Thursday - Cub Scout Blue & Gold Invite

February was our Blue & Gold Banquet and the boys wanted to make some invites. So I took out my retired Cowboy Kid and stamped them in Staz On for the kids to color. The one below was one of the one's I colored to give the principal and a few other people.

To color him in I used my watercolor crayons, they are perfect for watercoloring. I used my aqua painter directly on my crayon to give a more vibrant color.

The bottom picture is the inside of the card which I created using My Digital Studio. It was so easy to use and print off!! It sure made that part easy!

Happy Stamping!!

Easy Bookmark

I know I said I would be showing my Artisan Projects and I still am only I won't share them until after the Stampin Addicts blog hop that runs June 11-13th. I didn't want to have a break in my almost artisan projects!! So stay tuned for those!!

I made this bookmark for a thank you to all the adult leaders in our Cub Scout pack. They were easy to make and super cute. Plus as a leader there always places in the book you want to mark for future projects so I am sure they will come in handy!! The ribbon is our Real Red 5/8 grosgrain ribbon and I tied it with the natural cording. Happy Stamping!

Cub Scout Project

As most of you know I am a cub scout leader and I tell you I make those poor boys be crafty!! Actually they all seem to like all my craft projects. The last one was making a catapult for their Engineer activity badge.

We made a basic box with card stock the added some skewers to make the working catapult part. They had the option of decorating the outside and this was how I had made mine, using Under the Stars stamp set; they mostly just colored theirs with designs. I watercolored the smores and then embossed the marshmallow with iridescent ice.

They had a lot of fun with this project but I think it was mostly the flinging of marshmallows across the room!! Happy Stamping!

Cub Scout Shirts

As some of you know I also a leader for a Cub Scout pack and one of the activities boys had to do this month was to make a simple stencil and use it on a T-Shirt. So I took the Elegant Trio stencil and used the Fluer-de-lis, after all that is the main emblem for the Scouts. I had the boys trace it onto a stencil sheet which they cut out to use on their shirts.

Some of them came out a little wonky so we used the original to stencil on their shirts instead and sponged on the paint. We used a metallic fabric paint so that's why you see the glittery effect in the picture. After that we wrote their names over the Fluer-de-lis. The boys had a lot of fun AND the now have a class b uniform they can wear. Happy Stamping!

Evening with the Scouts

Last week was our Cub Scout packs Blue and Gold. Our pack was doing a heritage night and the boys had to do a report on their different ethnic back grounds. They also had to make a traditional food to share with the pack. So I thought it would be cool to make up a passport for each of the boys and as they "traveled" to different countries they could have their passport stamped. So I came up with this:

I made 20 of them in different colors for each boy. Everyone really liked them and they were able to keep them as keepsakes for the evening.

I stamped the image using timber brown staz on on the foam. To do the pressed image I just heated the foam then ink the image and stamped. I printed the word passport from my computer and punched it out as well as stamping the luggage. I attached them to the side using cording. Happy Stamping!

Cub Scout Project

For some reason I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Tuesday hence why I had a Technique Tuesday posted on Monday. So today I'm just going to share with you the project my cub scouts did for the holidays.

First they made this little ornament. I cut out Joy in the raw vinyl using my big shot and Cheer decorative strip. All they had to do was stick it on and add glitter, fake snow, and the ribbon on top. It came out pretty cute!!

Next they made the bottle cover for their ornament to go into. Basically just cut around the center of the bottle filled it with filler put the ornament in the middle and sealed the bottle and covered it with paper.
Then they decorated their canning jar with cheer also cut out from raw vinyl and added ribbon. The last thing they did was mix the cocoa to go into their jar. For the cocoa they used the recipe below.

The boys had a lot of fun but they sure made a mess!! Typical of boys ... lol. Happy Stamping!

Technique Tuesday - Watercolor Crayons

A bit back I showed you a cub scout calendar project I made. If you don't remember it can be found here. I colored in the image using watercolor crayons. I thought I would do a tutorial using them and probably the simplest way is just by coloring and then blending.

Start with you solid image. Some recommend that you use a permanent ink like staz on, but I always use my regular basic black unless I plan on using a lot of water to blend, then it will smear.

Color in your image using the water color crayons. Color it in to your specifications. You don't have to be exact when coloring in the image, you will be blending in the color.

Once you have all the image colored in you will run you blender pen over the coloring to smooth and blend in the color. You can also use the aqua painters or paint brush. I personally like the blender pens better. I would also recommend doing each color separately if doing mass images so that your colors stay crisp.

Your image should look like this when all blended in. I did go out of the lines a bit and though usually I am particular about perfection I have begun to learn that it's not as noticeable as I think it and most people who get these as gifts don't care or notice. I hope you found the tutorial useful. Happy Stamping,

Creative CD Holder

A couple weekends back our cub scout pack went on a camping trip, the boys had a ton of fun. I took my camera and took over 150 photos over the 2 days while they different activities, the clean up of the lake, cooking, pitching tents, the campfire all the fun stuff. So I thought it would be great to make CD's for all the boys and their parents. Then I thought it would be cool to make CD holders for them so I made this cute little project.I was very pleased in how it came out, better than what I originally had in mind. Sometimes my "brilliant" ideas don't come out so well. I got the clear plastic CD covers at Walmart. So what do you think?

Recipe: Stamp Set - Scouts at Play; Ink - Basic Gray; Cardstock - Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla; Accessories - Crimper, Rope Twine, Watercolor crayons, Dimensionals

How do I always manage....

to get myself volunteered for projects?? For my youngest child's cub scout group I am making calendar's. We are hoping that this is going to help get everyone to remember all the activities we are doing so we can have a higher participation for all the activities. I decided that since I am making about 30 of these calendar's I would keep it rather simple.

What was I thinking? First of all 30 ... how exactly is that simple?? THEN I decided I would use my scout stamp which requires coloring!!! And NOOO I couldn't just color them but had to use the water color crayons. Apparently my brain doesn't quite understand the concept of simple or I would have just print monthly calendars. But at least I did keep the concept simple so that counts right? Besides I think they are cute!
