Gotta love those recipe swaps!

Here is another 6x6 recipe swap I did. I love making these things. Not that I have time to cook any of them but if I ever do feel like cooking I can pull out these adorable little swaps. I wanted it to look like a pumpkin patch. If you use real pumpkin instead of canned these pancakes come out great!

Unlucky with 3x3's

I keep seeing these adorable 3x3's cards so I thought I would try to make some and I tell you they just don't come out as I had intended. They never seem cute when I make them, they always just seem so under done or over done. Case in point number 1:The idea I had never translated properly. AND this was the better one I made like seven version's but finally gave up. So then I decided to try again. #'s 2 and 3These are slightly better but they are still missing the cute factor. I could put this little guy on a 3x3 and it would probably be cute. But that wasn't what I made him for.
For now I think I will be skipping 3x3's and stick with what I do better.

Technique Tuesday - Watercolor Crayons

A bit back I showed you a cub scout calendar project I made. If you don't remember it can be found here. I colored in the image using watercolor crayons. I thought I would do a tutorial using them and probably the simplest way is just by coloring and then blending.

Start with you solid image. Some recommend that you use a permanent ink like staz on, but I always use my regular basic black unless I plan on using a lot of water to blend, then it will smear.

Color in your image using the water color crayons. Color it in to your specifications. You don't have to be exact when coloring in the image, you will be blending in the color.

Once you have all the image colored in you will run you blender pen over the coloring to smooth and blend in the color. You can also use the aqua painters or paint brush. I personally like the blender pens better. I would also recommend doing each color separately if doing mass images so that your colors stay crisp.

Your image should look like this when all blended in. I did go out of the lines a bit and though usually I am particular about perfection I have begun to learn that it's not as noticeable as I think it and most people who get these as gifts don't care or notice. I hope you found the tutorial useful. Happy Stamping,

Another Just Jawing

I know I said this was my favorite set a few times so I had to pull it out again to make a card for a manly swap I am in. The first set I did got eaten by the post office. Actually I'm not really sure what the PO did with them as all the hostess got was a shredded envelope with a note that said they were sorry for the handling of the mail and that the contents were missing, sorry for the inconvenience. It's was a good thing I had done my swaps early because it allowed me to make another set (did different ones the second time), plus it was only a 5+1. I never did get my other swaps back even with them being in Ziploc bag with my address on it. Anyways here is one of the new cards I made...
I couldn't decide which orientation I liked the best so I made a couple of each.

Creative CD Holder

A couple weekends back our cub scout pack went on a camping trip, the boys had a ton of fun. I took my camera and took over 150 photos over the 2 days while they different activities, the clean up of the lake, cooking, pitching tents, the campfire all the fun stuff. So I thought it would be great to make CD's for all the boys and their parents. Then I thought it would be cool to make CD holders for them so I made this cute little project.I was very pleased in how it came out, better than what I originally had in mind. Sometimes my "brilliant" ideas don't come out so well. I got the clear plastic CD covers at Walmart. So what do you think?

An Eyeball of a Drink

I signed up for another swap ... I'm a bit swap crazy. Some of my favorite swaps are or these 6x6 recipes. I did this swap with Utahstampoholic (Renee) over at splitcoast, her swaps are usually high caliber and I should be getting mine back the early part of next week. I decided I wanted to use the martini stamp and change the olive to an eyeball but since I don't drink I didn't have a recipe so I googled this one.

Special and a recipe

Stampin' Up! is celebrating 20 years and in honor of Stampin' Up's birthday they are new special for the month. Come celebrate with us today! For more info click on the picture to the right under Stamp Savings. I have also added the link to the Holiday Mini on my side bar as well. I also decided to share with you another project I made using the chalkboard technique. I went with the more traditional candy corn colors on this one. I enjoy doing these 6x6 recipe cards, easy to do and fun to make. I did this one for a Halloween swap on SCS. I added a recipe for Crispy Candy Corn Treats, basically a rice crispy treat with candy corn. Enjoy!
